The Palm Beach Post: Palm Beach United Way adds drive-thru event to school supply drive

The Palm Beach Post July 21, 2020

The Palm Beach United Way’s eighth Annual School Supply Drive will look a little different this year with the addition of a drive-thru event, prompted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The drive-thru will be at the Royal Poinciana Plaza, from 8 to 11 a.m. July 25. Donors should enter the plaza from Cocoanut Row and follow signs to the drop-off location in the southwest corner of the parking lot. They will be asked to open their trunk, and stay in their car while volunteers unload supplies from the vehicle.

“We are grateful that The Royal Poinciana Plaza partnered with us this year so we could continue the tradition of hosting a back-to-school supply drive in a safe and efficient manner,” United Way board Chairman Mary Freitas said in a press release. “Whether children are learning at school, at youth development organizations, or at home, they will still need supplies, especially students whose parents are without incomes due to the public health crisis.”
