Palm Beach Daily News: New Wave Art Wknd brings VIP collectors and public events to Palm Beach

Not all the excitement in the contemporary art world this week will be confined to Miami, where Art Basel and its vast court of attendant events will be held.

Several prominent collectors as well as other contemporary art fans will meet in Palm Beach for the third edition of the New Wave Art Wknd…

Events open to everyone include panel discussions, a reception and performance introducing Jeppe Hein’s Water Pavilion in Rosemary Square, a reception for Candida Alvarez’s exhibition at Gavlak Gallery, [Lisa] Perry’s book signing at Assouline, and a tour of “Rembrandt: Painter as Printmaker” at The Society of the Four Arts.

“One thing about the New Wave Art Wknd is that I want it to not be about the art market,” said gallerist Sarah Gavlak, the event’s founder. “It’s a small initiative for us to come together as a community and talk about artists and what we can do to support artists.”
