Palm Beach Daily News: Holiday Reveal at Royal Poinciana to have a beachy vibe

Palm Beach Daily News December 5, 2019

Surf boards, beach scenes and palm trees are part of the “pure summer bliss” theme for this year’s Royal Poinciana Plaza’s Holiday Reveal, which is planned for 6 p.m. Friday.

“I hope the dreamy ocean waves, scattered sunbathers, and bright beach umbrellas bring joy and holiday cheer to the wonderful residents and visitors who flock to Palm Beach to celebrate this magical time of year,” said artist Gray Malin, who is known for his aerial beach photography.

Perched in a door-less helicopter, Malin shot photographs from Palm Beach, the Hamptons, St. Tropez and other locations. The then were photos adhered to 52 surfboards — each with individual images, and the boards were built into a 30-foot Christmas tree.

The Royal Poinciana Plaza has partnered with Loggerhead Marinelife Center, a nonprofit sea turtle research facility in Juno Beach, for the event.

Malin’s art brings attention to the importance of clean water and air, said Jack E. Lighton, president and chief executive officer at Loggerhead.
