Palm Beach Daily News: Dorian changes friend-raiser to fund-raiser

Palm Beach Daily News September 9, 2019

Young Palm Beach gathers to help Bahamians

This is what you call a happy coincidence.

The folks at the Royal Poinciana Plaza had long ago scheduled a Caribbean-themed reception as a “c’mon by” for its Palm Beach friends and customers.

But then Hurricane Dorian rained down destruction on the Northern Bahamas, and the planned gathering for friends turned into a gathering for funds.

The Bahamas Relief Concert took place at the plaza on Sept. 6 and included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a performance by the New World Music School’s 12-piece Caribbean Salsa Band.

Guests in attendance included not only residents but several Bahamian citizens who were staying in the area following the storm.

Proceeds from the event are earmarked for the Bahamas Red Cross Society and the Green Turtle Cay Foundation.

In addition to funds collected at the event, plaza merchants 100% Capri, Valentina Kova, Zadig & Voltaire, Coyo Taco Palm Beach, Sant Ambroeus, and Celis Produce donated proceeds from sales.
