Biggio Hamina Cellars is the result of pure luck. In June of 1996, Caroline Biggio moved from Aspen, Colorado, where she had worked as a line cook at The Little Nell to open a restaurant in McMinnville, Oregon. In September of 1996 Todd Hamina moved from Denver to McMinnville for a vineyard job. He had been working for a distributor, and assured of a low paying job in the vineyard, he loaded up his old Volvo and moved. In the first four hours he had found a job, a place to live, and met his Bride. Todd Hamina has over twenty years of experience making beautiful, age worthy wines in Yamhill County. The philosophy is simple: spontaneous ferments, no new oak, no filtration, and lots of hard work. They make pretty wines. Wines with beautiful perfumed aromas leap out of the glass backed up with silky tannins. “We really are searching for the iron fist in a velvet glove.”
